Hawaii chapter to host PRSA Western District Conference April 27-29

Hawaii PR and marketing executives will have the chance to hear from and network with top professionals without ever leaving the state

The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Hawaii Chapter is preparing to host the 2022 PRSA Western District Conference for the first time in nearly 20 years. The national three-day conference will bring hundreds of public relations professionals to the island to take part in professional development sessions, keynote speakers, and networking opportunities. The event is scheduled to take place at the Prince Waikiki from April 27 through April 29, 2022 and is considered the premier public relations conference in the western United States.

The cost is $449 for PRSA members and $509 for non-PRSA members. You can register for this event through Eventbrite here.

“We are excited to host the PRSA Western District Conference, which provides us the opportunity to showcase our beautiful island home, and the talented communications professionals that live here,” said Sam Tsui, PRSA Hawaii Chapter president. “We encourage all local communications and marketing professionals to come out and show their support and to take advantage of the exceptional line up of speakers and programs that we have scheduled.”

Confirmed speakers and programs currently include:

  • Scott Simon, Simon Leadership Group, leading a pre-conference workshop
  • Na’alehu Anthony, Hawaii COVID Collective, Kim Birnie, Papa Ola Lokahi, Christopher “CJ” Johnson, Hawaii State Department of Health, and Agnes Malate, Ph.D., University of Hawaii at Manoa and FilCom CARES, participating in a lunch panel about “COVID-19: Saving lives by overcoming vaccine hesitancy among Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, and Filipino communities”
  • Brandi Boatner, IBM Corporate Communications, as a keynote speaker
  • Peter Shankman, entrepreneur and author, as a keynote speaker.

The PRSA Western District is comprised of 11 PRSA chapters in the western region, including Hawaii. Founded in 1947, PRSA Hawaii is one of six founding chapters of the Public Relations Society of America and is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.
