Dear Members,
Happy New Year! As we stand on the cusp of 2024, I am filled with gratitude and excitement for the extraordinary year that lies ahead for our vibrant PRSA chapter. In the spirit of camaraderie and shared passion, I extend warm wishes to each of you, our dedicated members, as we collectively embark on another year of growth, learning, and connection.
As we kick off this new year, I’m honored to take on the role of President and am deeply thankful for the opportunity to work alongside the talented individuals who make up our incoming board, including our esteemed Executive Committee.
Monica Gil dos Santos is our President-elect, Barbara Cosio Moreno serves as our Secretary, Blake Nelson, APR, continues as our Past President, and Jenny Mehlow is our Treasurer. They are all valuable assets to our team, contributing their expertise and dedication.
In 2024, our primary goals center around reinforcing the essence of PRSA in our region. We aim to be the leading organization and centralized hub for PR professionals in San Diego and Imperial counties, providing a platform for formal connections, idea-sharing, and collective learning to address the challenges we all navigate in our dynamic field.
PRSA offers a wealth of resources, including our renowned APR Program, mentorship initiatives, and professional development opportunities. These avenues are designed to make communications professionals smarter, better prepared, and more connected throughout their careers. As we pursue these goals, we encourage you not to be shy—reach out and stay engaged. Follow us on social media and subscribe to our newsletter to stay updated on chapter announcements and industry insights.
I’m eager to delve into our strategies for the year. We aspire to focus on aspirational audiences, emphasizing programming, content, and opportunities for communications and reputation management specialists, particularly in the education, health, and government sectors. Together, we will prove PRSA’s competitive advantage in the ever-evolving world of communications.
On a more personal note, I enthusiastically joined the PRSA board in 2021 because it represented not only a fantastic avenue to connect with fellow professionals in the field but also a wonderful opportunity to give back. I am deeply passionate about creating an environment that welcomes individuals at various stages of their PR journey, especially those just starting or transitioning careers. My commitment lies in embracing and nurturing individuals who may not have received formal training or mentorship but possess all the talent and skills to emerge as exceptional leaders in our dynamic field.
In closing, I extend my deepest gratitude for the opportunity to lead this incredible community. Here’s to a year filled with collaboration. I can’t wait to connect with each of you and make 2024 a year to remember.
Warm regards,
Arturo Garcia-Sierra
