Takeaways from ‘Instagram Tips for a New Year’

Instagram Webinar

By Jacob Duarte, OCPRSA – Co-Chair Programs

OCPRSA welcomed Roni Ramos, president and founder of Harmony 3 Productions, to kick-off this year’s programming with her presentation of Instagram Tips for a New Year. Roni took a deep-dive into how Instagram can be leveraged to promote a brand or business, and shared some pointers on how to create insta-worthy (literally) content.

Here are three takeaways:

Tell Your Brand Story

Whether you’re using Instagram for a client, business or personal brand, always position the account as the best reflection of the brand. Roni mentions this social media platform has become so popular, users are often looking at a brand’s account before they even get to their website. From the bio to content, and even captions, remember to make your brand look authentic across all touchpoints.

Take Advantage of Everything Instagram Has to Offer

Since Instagram launched in 2010, the platform has expanded its capabilities on how brands can engage with their followers. Instagram Stories, Instagram Shop and Reels are different ways accounts can share content outside of the traditional in-feed post. For anyone wondering how to leverage all of Instagram’s features, Roni says the Instagram for Business page is an excellent resource.

Create Content Like a Pro

You don’t need to be a professional photographer or graphic designer to produce eye-catching content. Roni shared a few tips to always remember when creating content for your account.

 • Lighting: Always use lighting that makes your product pop!

 • Props: Don’t be afraid to use props in your content as long as they are consistent with your brand or product.

 • Canva: An excellent graphic design tool that can be used to create everything from Instagram posts, Stories and even GIFs (you can also use Giphy for this!).

• Don’t be stale: Be fearless and try new stuff out! Always look for new ways to engage with your followers.
